Anglia Television report on Cozens & Jones, Norwich rag and bone merchants.
Just off the busy St Andrew's Street in Norwich lies the cluttered yards of Cozens & Jones; rag, metal and general merchants. Inside their cramped, dilapidated premises, Anglia Television correspondent Bob Wellings interviews the owner, Mr Cozens. The pair discuss the sourcing of rags, the many cats who are charged with keeping the rats under control and the 'treasures' that Cozens has found over the years amongst the bundles of clothes. Also discussed is resemblance of this firm to that of the popular television programme 'Steptoe and Son', as the pair tour the building and visit the sorting rooms to meet Ronald, Mr Cozens' son, who explains his work. Wellings sums up his visit with some of the 'moral lessons' learnt, paying tribute to the 'honourable and noble art of the rag and bone man'.
