Self-Defence For Women
1975 , Mildenhall (Suffolk)
Cat no. 100638
Judy Finnigan reports for Anglia Television on the women's self-defence classes running at Mildenhall Judo Kwai Club.
A self-defence expert, Carole Clark, re-enacts a potential real-life situation, using a martial arts technique to defend against a male street attacker. Carole demonstrates the same attack method, several times, on a member of Mildenhall Judo Club. Judy Finnigan reports, interviewing the female participant, questioning how effective the technique is, particularly for a small woman. A martial arts instructor, Neville Devine, representing Mildenhall Judo Kwai Club, demonstrates how to throw a man over his shoulder to the floor. Judy Finnigan interviews Mr Devine, and he explains that there are a combination of martial arts styles and techniques that are used in providing self-defence. Judy Finnigan tries out the self-defence move previously demonstrated.
