Mechanised manufacturing processes at a factory producing crumpets.
Vats of fermenting dough. The dough is mixed by machine and loaded into moulds from a hand operated overhead mechanism. The proving dough is shown in a time lapse sequence. The Essex Crumpets are turned over in their rows to reveal cooked bases. They speed along the production line and are unloaded, wrapped and packed for despatch.

This was filmed at the bakery of Kenneth Race, Rush Green, Clacton. Leslie Gillham was a teacher of metalwork and taught an IAC film course.
