1961 , Litcham (Norfolk)
Cat no. 214016
Anglia TV reporter Lionel Hampden visits Litcham post office during the busy Christmas period, to see how a sub post office is run.
Lionel Hampden interviews sub-postmaster, Mr Bailey, who explains the purpose of his job, his duties and responsibilities, and the range of services and deliveries offered by Litcham post office. Mr Bailey details the sorting operations of the business and allows the reporter a peek behind the scenes into the mail sorting room, where post office employees are at work. Long term employee, postman Mr Warnes, takes a bag and sets off by bike on his regular postal delivery round. Mr Warnes narrates, talking about his thirty years experience of being a postman, over footage of him cycling down the quiet country lanes and delivering to the local residents.
