A Gentleman of Suffolk

An Anglia Television, 'About Anglia Special' documentary about the Suffolk-born poet, artist and architect, the late Cecil Lay.

Documentary introduced and narrated by writer Lance Sieveking, about the poet, architect and artist, Cecil Lay. Sieveking journeys to the location of one of Lay's architectural creations, Raids End, in Aldringham, Suffolk. A shot of the house, with close ups focussing on its architectural features, accompanied by off-camera commentary of Sieveking recalling the day he first visited the property and met with Cecil Lay, the subject of the documentary. Still photos and a narrated biography of the Suffolk-born artist follows, together with stock shots of Lay's birth village, Aldringham. With affection for the polymath, Sieveking then reads from Lay's poems and provides an artistic analysis to accompany examples of Lay's Suffolk-inspired creations; close ups of his paintings and the buildings he designed.
