A visit to the home of naturalist and local celebrity,Ted Ellis at Wheatfen, near Surlingham in Norfolk, showing the naturalist’s typical activities, observing wildlife and dealing with administration, accompanied by commentary detailing his varied workload as a scientist, lecturer, Eastern Daily Press columnist and author of natural history books. Ellis documents his observations by taking photographs and recording his thoughts using a reel-to-reel tape recorder, which are often broadcast on the radio. Ted Ellis, his wife Phyllis, and friend Russell, eat lunch together. The film was transmitted on BBC Television preceding a studio interview of Ted Ellis talking to David Richardson.
